Hello!
I am a researcher in computer vision and geospatial AI, currently serving as an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. Before this, I was an Associate Professor at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil (2013–2022), where I conducted research that bridged methodological advances in computer vision and real-world applications.
My research balances both computational challenges and their applications. Besides always aiming at excellence and impacting results in Computer Science, I am especially interested in inter-, cross-, multidisciplinary research. I see the connection with other areas of knowledge as an opportunity to develop cutting-edge research with high possibilities for impacting directly on economic, social, and environmental aspects.
My research interests include computer vision, machine learning, image processing, and remote sensing.
